Tutt Land Company is excited to offer for sale Hidalgo Plantation, a 683 ac (+-) turnkey, hunting and recreational tract in western Russell County, AL.  Located just outside of Hurtsboro, AL on Reeves Road, Hidalgo is a jaw dropping tract that offers the outdoor enthusiast most everything they could ask for.  Hidalgo is conveniently located to Auburn/Opelika (35 minutes), Columbus, GA (45 minutes) and also to Birmingham and Atlanta, GA (within 2.5 hours).  There are numerous properties that hit the market advertised as "having it all"... this tract really does "have it all!"  From lodging to a large stocked fishing lake to beautiful mature hardwoods to every kind of wildlife you can think of and everything else in between, Hidalgo is an exceptional tract that will offer the new owner unlimited outdoor activities and family fun.

Upon entering the gates at Hidalgo, you will see the manicured grounds of the plantation headquarters consisting of a very nice lodge,a large pole barn with enclosed shop and dog kennels.  The lodge, which was built around 2003, has 6 private bedrooms with either a king or queen size bed and 6 private bathrooms.  Each bedroom has a nice size closet and it's own heating/air unit.  On one end of the lodge there is also a large bunk room, with 3 large bunk beds, a large bathroom and a walk in closet.  This bunk room could easily be converted into a master suite if one desired to do so.  On the other end is a spacious living area with a large sectional sofa, leather chairs, a flat screen TV and wet bar.  There is also a nice kitchen with stainless appliances, two sinks and a large island for eating or preparing meals.  The lodge also features covered porches with rocking chairs on the front and rear, a his and her bathroom outside the living area, a storage room and laundry room.  Behind the lodge in the back yard is a large, stone fireplace and patio area that is perfect for unwinding and telling stories after a long day of hunting!  Also behind the lodge is a large pole barn that is ideal for storing equipment, UTVs, vehicles or whatever else you may have.  There is an enclosed shop area with roll up door and tool room located in the center of this pole barn.

This is a very diverse tract of land with varying topography from flat bottomland with mature hardwood timber to gently rolling hills with pine plantations. There is a lot of water here... Hurtsboro Creek, a large sandy bottom creek, flows from north to south across the whole tract.  This creek along with other smaller springs provide a great water source for the wildlife and the hardwood timber in these bottoms is beautiful.  There is a lot of water oak and red oak here that should provide plentiful acorn production in the fall/winter.  If you like to fish, there is a beautiful, spring fed 20 acre lake not far from the lodge.  This is one of the "fishiest" looking lakes I have seen with multiple points, islands and shoreline structure.  It was restocked with F1 Tiger Bass and Coppernose Bream about 6 years ago and offers great fishing fun for family and friends.  On the north end of the lake is duck swamp where the landowners have had several outstanding wood duck hunts.  As you ride through Hidalgo, you will notice there are multiple food plots of all sizes, most with custom wooden shooting houses.  These food plots provide a reliable food source for the wildlife during the fall and winter.  One of the food plots located near the lodge also doubles as a dove field...the owners have planted browtop millet in the past and have had some good dove shoots. It is not uncommon to see at least 20 deer on an afternoon hunt in some of these food plots.  The south end of the tract has a really quality stand of 20-25 year old planted loblolly pine.  This pine has been thinned once and could be thinned again now especially if you're looking for a place to quail hunt...this is an ideal location.  There are two areas of younger pine timber on the tract...one is about 42 acres of planted longleaf pine and the other is 45 acres of planted loblolly pine.  Both younger stands of timber look good and offer great bedding areas for the wildlife.  Most all timber on the tract is merchantable except for these two areas of young planted pine.

Hidalgo is an excellent tract of land that it is walk in ready.  There are very few tracts on the market that can offer the complete package of hunting/fishing/recreational activities like it does.  If you are looking for a complete, turnkey recreational tract like this, then you should certainly consider Hidalgo.  I like it a lot and I know you will too!!
