If you are a serious hunter searching for that special property, or are looking to build a secluded getaway in the country, then you need to see the Raines Road tract! This is an exceptional deer and turkey hunting tract featuring a perfect combination of old-growth hardwoods, planted fields, and a substantial, year-round creek. Raines Road has everything necessary to attract, hold and sustain plenty of big deer and huge gobblers. Located in north Conecuh County, less than nine miles from I-65 in Evergreen, this tract has road frontage on county-maintained Raines Road.
This tract is perfectly set up for hunting with food plots, shooting houses and ladder stands – in all the right places. Bankston Creek is a gorgeous, all-weather creek that flows through the tract for well over one-half mile. The creek provides the ideal habitat (food, cover and water) for the wildlife as evidenced by the number of deer tracks, turkey tracks, rubs and scrapes. There are approximately 76 acres in hardwoods, primarily along the creek, featuring plenty of mature white and red oaks, cypress and poplar trees.
Combined with about 36 acres of planted fields on the north side of the creek, it is easy to see why this tract offers some of the best hunting in south Alabama. The current owner has been planting the fields both in late spring and early fall. Summer plantings have included corn, sorghum, chufa and millet. In the fall, it has been a traditional mixture of rye, oats and clover to keep the fields green and the game well-fed. The fields were originally part of a much larger farm. To create a buffer from the adjoining farm land, the owner planted 20 acres of Loblolly pine along the north boundary in early 2016.
Accessible, yet comfortably secluded, the Raines Road tract is surrounded by timber and other agriculture land which is great for the wildlife and for the peace and quiet. There is a good internal trail system providing access throughout the tract. With good, flat ground on which to build, power on the property and water available at the road, it offers plenty of options for the new owners. If you’ve been searching for a great hunting tract, you need to see this one!
