The current owner is already applying for the NRCS EQIP program (Environmental Quality Incentive Program) and anticipates the tract to be reforested with Longleaf pines in 2020. You can choose to participate or not, it’s up to you. If you do, this cost-share program covers a significant portion of the total expenses to put the land back in pine production. Once the trees are planted, they are the property of the landowner (but must be left to grow for a minimum of 15 years before they can be clear-cut again). At harvest time, all the proceeds will be yours!
