!!GREAT HUNTING TRACT NEAR HURTSBORO, AL!!

The Antioch Road West Tract is 760 acres (+-) located on Antioch Road in Hatchechubbee, AL, about 10 miles east of Hurtsboro and within 35 minutes of Auburn, Opelika and Columbus, GA.  Once used for quail hunting but not hunted in many years, this should be a prime hunting tract for the new owner.  This area of Russell County is and has been for decades, a very desirable area for outdoor enthusiasts due to the heavy population of deer, turkey and wild hogs.  This area is sparsely populated and most of the land is owned by private individuals and timber companies.  While looking at this tract I saw multiple deer slipping through the woods!

This a gently rolling tract with good access provided by multiple roads and trails...with a little bush hogging you could drive most anywhere on the place.  The topography lends itself well to a nice lake and I believe there are several sites that could work.  There are some wet weather springs and beautiful hardwoods in the bottoms, with multiple mast bearing white, red and water oaks.  These areas should provide excellent hunting in the fall and early winter!  The upland timber on the tract is mostly pine...a mix of large, scattered natural sawtimber with an understory made up of smaller pine/hardwood and sage grass.  There are pockets of longleaf and loblolly pine as well, some of which are ready to thin now.

With a little work and planning, this could turn into a fine all around hunting tract.  If you are a quail hunter, prescribed burning, understory spraying and even some mulching would do wonders here and take it back to what it once looked like...towering pines and sage grass!  For the deer hunter, creating food plots in strategic locations around the tract, would provide a good food source.  The open nature of this tract offers multiple areas to install new food plots of all sizes.  This would also create good nesting and strut zones for the turkeys.

Tracts like this are not an easy find right now... big enough to incorporate some wildlife management but not so big that it requires a full time crew to maintain.  A great tract in a great location!!
