Welcome to Little Uchee Plantation, a 445 (+-) acre high fence game preserve located in Salem, AL along the banks of Uchee Creek.  This amazing tract is in a prime location of Lee County, AL, within 20 to 30 minutes of the Auburn, Opelika, Phenix City and Columbus, GA areas and within 2.5 hours of Birmingham, AL and 2 hours of Atlanta, GA.  With over four miles of high fencing in place, Little Uchee is the ideal tract for the hunting enthusiast with one thing in mind...MONSTER WHITETAILS!!!

Little Uchee is a rolling tract, heavily stocked with a mature stand of pine and hardwood timber.  The hardwood timber on this tract is about as good as it gets, with the dominant species being white oak and there are lots of them.  This is a great food source for the deer in the preserve in the fall and winter.  This abundance of mast bearing trees also increases the carrying capacity of the deer herd in the preserve.  There are also numerous other species of hardwood trees including red oak, water oak, poplar and gum.  There is some mature pine mixed in with the hardwood stands and also two stands of once thinned planted pines on the east and west end of the tract.  There are 10 food plots on Little Uchee ranging in size from 1/4 acre up to about 4 acres, all strategically placed so the deer don't have to travel far for food.  These areas serve as winter food plots and the bigger ones double as summer plots, with great stands of lush green clover and chicory.  Most all food plots have new enclosed shooting houses for ultimate comfort while hunting.  An underground gas line disects the tract east to west, offering additional open land for food plots and a great place to hunt when the bucks are chasing does during the rut!  If you like to dove hunt, there are a couple areas, one about 4 acres and the other about 20 acres, that woud be ideal for that.  The 20 acre open area would also be great for horses or other livestock.  Access is great throughout the preserve...numerous roads and ATV trails will take wherever you want to go.  There is also a good road around the whole preserve along the high fence making maintenance and vegetative control an easy task.

Little Uchee is named after Uchee Creek, a big creek that is the northern boundary of the preserve and eventually flows into Lake Eufaula.  The high fence follows Uchee Creek for almost 1.5 miles with gates along the way allowing access to the creek.  There are a couple small springs that provide a good water source for the deer and other wildlife and also supply flowing water to the ponds on the preserve.  There are 3 ponds...two on the west side of about 2.5 and 1/2 acres and one on the east side of about 1 acre.  These ponds are naturally stocked with bass, bream and catfish and offer fishing for the whole family!

The native deer herd on Little Uchee was completely eradicated a few years ago to make way for the superior genetic whitetails that are now in the preserve.  The current population within the preserve consists of three mature four year old bucks (see pictures) and about 60 other deer, many of which were pregnant does that have fawned once and will be fawning again real soon.  The other deer released were a combination of buck and doe fawns.  Yearling bucks with very impressive horns can already be seen roaming around in the preserve.  Pedigrees are available and can be provided upon request.  If you like big, massive whitetail racks then this is the place for you (check out the pictures)!  Aside from the impressive deer herd, there is a healthy turkey population on Little Uchee.  The rolling hills with the big, upland hardwood stands is a perfect recipe for a memorable turkey hunt.  While riding the preserve, several turkeys were seen making their way through the woods.  Predator wire was installed at the base of the high fence to keep racoons, coyotes, foxes, hogs and other pests out of the preserve.  This is a big deal...445 acres with massive deer, lots of turkeys and no hogs, what else could you ask for?

For your overnight or weekend stay, there is a 2000 SF, 3 BR / 2 BA house with a two car garage.  This house has been completely remodeled and is near completion.  Near the house is a metal shop building, with front and rear roll up doors, a perfect place for equipment maintenance and repair.  For storage of all equipment, ATVs, trailers and other items, a 40' x 108' pole barn was recently constructed on site.  Also on Little Uchee is a very nice, large enclosed barn, built years ago for horse purposes and complete with stalls, concrete floor, and living quarters with kitchen and bathroom.  This barn is currently used in the breeding operation on Little Uchee but could be used for numerous other purposes.

Little Uchee is a very unique, beautiful tract of land that offers several opportunities to it's new owner. A pay hunting operation selling premium hunts to the public, a corporate retreat to entertain valuable customers, selling deer to other breeders or owners of high fence preserves, or simply the chance to hunt and harvest monster whitetails for a lifetime with your family and friends!!  With proper management of the deer herd, this preserve will produce trophy animals for years to come and provide great memories for all who get to enjoy it!
